Improved wood burning stoves
Objectives
- To eliminate smoke from the kitchen and improve health of women and children

To upgrade environment and check deforestation
- To generate employment
Implementation
Nedcap gas district Offices in the 22 districts of the State. The trained self employed
workers will be installing the improved chulhas in the villages. Each district will
be allotted one training programme to train ten self employed workers in the installation
of the improved chulha. The identified village / hamlet will be totally covered
and the programme will not be implemented again in the same villages.
Model of chulhas implemented
- Fixed type. With CI Grate and Chimney. This can be constructed in the houses with
the prescribed material. I.e., mud, bricks etc.
- Portable chulha. This is portable
and can be carried any where for the cooking purpose. This is made of mild steel
and cast iron with Aluminum lining.

The Government of A.P. is providing grant towards subsidy from the year 2003-04
to till date. For the year 2007-08, the Government of A.P. has sanctioned Rs. 86.00
lakhs under Plan scheme. The same pattern is being approved for the year 2008-09
also by the Government.
In the State of A.P., the potentiality to construct the fixed chulhas is estimated
as 95.00 lakhs. So far, the number of chulhas constructed/supplied is 32.00 lakhs.
